A minibus of up to 19 runs the peninsula counter-clockwise, adds the red-roofed church at Ingjaldsholl and ends at Kirkjufell in the evening light. Pick it for long stops at Arnarstapi and Djupalonssandur at a price close to the coach.

Your Day Tours collects guests from central Reykjavik bus stops (the pickup round takes up to an hour) and heads north via Borgarnes. The order is the classic small-group one: Ytri Tunga seals 25 minutes, Budir church 20, then the two long stops, 50 minutes at Arnarstapi and 45 at Djupalonssandur. That's enough to walk the cliffs properly and still reach the waterline on the black beach.
Then comes the stop no other day tour here makes: Ingjaldsholskirkja near Hellissandur, a small red-roofed church from 1903 that is often called the oldest concrete church in the world. Local legend says Christopher Columbus stayed at Ingjaldsholl. After a short break the day ends with 25 minutes at Kirkjufell, back in Reykjavik after about 12 hours.
Guests rate the guides highly, but the vehicle draws the complaints. In a full 19-seat van the back row is bumpy and cramped, and the driver-guide's voice doesn't always reach it. There's no lunch break either: one guest timed the food stop at 30 minutes with few choices. Bring lunch, and board early if you care where you sit.
The van collects guests at numbered Reykjavik bus stops. Check your stop the day before: guests report changes.
Coffee and toilets, then the seal beach on the south coast.
The black church, then the longest stop of the day on the Arnarstapi cliffs.
The black beach inside the national park. Keep well back from the sea.
The red-roofed church near Hellissandur, then a short break.
The last stop, then about 2.5 hours back to Reykjavik.

★★★★★Great tour guide, and overall great day trip from Reykjavik where we didn't have to worry about driving for a 12-hr day.
★★★★★On the way she kept us enthralled with old Icelandic tales of Vikings , elves and trolls. [...] She was also a great driver and kept us safe despite the drenching rains and heavy winds.
