Gateway to Iceland · Reykjavik
Gateway to Iceland caps its minibus at 17, collects you from your hotel and includes a 45-minute lunch in the old village hall at Arnarstapi. Pick it for the smallest group with a meal included, and the only one of the lunch tours that takes babies.

Gateway to Iceland runs this only on minibuses, 17 passengers at most, with a local driver-guide doing live commentary. The route starts with 20 minutes at Gerduberg, the basalt column cliff by Route 54, then 30 minutes at the Ytri Tunga seal beach and 30 on the Arnarstapi cliffs.
Lunch follows at Samkomuhusid Arnarstapa, the village's old community hall turned family café, for 45 minutes. It's known for lamb soup, fish stew and homemade bread, and one guest still recommends the lamb soup years later. After lunch the route crosses the national park to Kirkjufellsfoss (20 minutes) and Kirkjufell (10), and finishes with 20 minutes at Djupalonssandur.
The trade-off is time at the big beach: 20 minutes at Djupalonssandur is the shortest of the small groups, and Budir church isn't a listed stop. The tour also needs 4 adults to run; one guest was moved to a similar EastWest tour when theirs didn't fill. Most written reviews are older than 2024, so the rating rests on a long, steady record more than recent volume.
Pickup at your hotel, or a bus stop a few minutes' walk away if your hotel is in the restricted zone.
Basalt columns, then the seal beach.
The cliffs and arch, then lunch in the village hall.
Across the park to the north coast for the waterfall and the mountain.
A short stop on the black beach, then back to Reykjavik.
★★★★★We ended up with such a small tour group that our guide, Thrond, was able to take us to a few extra stops for pictures - and a stop for the best carrot cake I've ever had (Hótel Snaefellsnes).
★★★★★Gummi was super kind and informative. You learn a lot during the trip and he improvises some extra stops on the way if the weather allows and people agree. [...] If you don't like being in a hurry as it usually happens with other tours, this is for you!
★★★★★The reason this tour takes 11-12 hours is the distance to the north-western peninsula around 2.5h drive. In itself, the tour is not hard on the legs there isn't much walking involved and there are is no rush in neither location.
★★★★★We were lucky with this tour! Amazing weather! Small group of just 4 people plus a guide, made it a private tour experience. Pleasant fun tour guide. We saw a lot and enjoyed our day very much.
